Terriers
The West Highland White Terrier. This gay, jaunty dog is deservedly very popular. The harsh outer coat picks up little dirt and needs little grooming. He has a close affinity to the Cairn, except in colour, which should be pure white. He is strongly built for his size (10-11 inches). His chest is deep, back straight and legs short and muscular. He is a combination of strength and activity; both these qualities enable him to tackle fox and to be a good ratter. At the same time he is a pleasant companion.
The head is of the familiar foxy type, ears small, erect, and ending in a sharp point. Tail is not docked and is carried gaily without being curled over the back.
The Deutcher Yagdt Terrier. A German sporting terrier was originally produced by crossing the old type of rough-coated Black-and-Tan Terriers with Wire-haired Fox Terriers.
